Over the years, our definition of a Warrior has evolved. In the past, we defined a Warrior as a fighter. In the present day, we see a Warrior as a person who, beyond all obstacles, still manages to be hugely successful. A Warrior may come against a multitude of impediments, but will persevere in the end.
A Wyoming Area Warrior Wrestler encompasses so many attributes of the definition of a Warrior; the attitude, the personality, the will to master any opponent under any circumstances, and most of all, dedication and determination of the highest magnitude.
The Wyoming Area Wrestling Scholarship strives to honor an individual exhibiting all of these qualities, both within the sport, scholastically and civically. This scholarship provides a financial gift awarded to a Senior who has been a dedicated member of the WA Wrestling Team during both Junior and Senior years.
This scholarship will be awarded to the wrestler who has consistently displayed the attributes of a successful student and athlete as well as a high level of community and citizenship involvement. An essay of at least 250 words, explaining how the sport of wrestling translates to the student’s everyday life and encourages success in all aspects of their world must be submitted for consideration and will be judged by a special scholarship selection committee.
This is an annual scholarship sponsored by the WA Wrestling Parents Association and may be utilized by the recipient as the recipient's chooses.
The Wyoming Area Wrestling Parents Association Committee will select the recipient for this scholarship.
CRITERIA: Applicant must be a member in good standing of the Wyoming Area Wrestling Team during both the Junior and Senior years of high school and have passing grades in all major subjects enrolled in.
ESSAY: In a solid essay, of at least 250 words, tell us how the sport of wrestling has taught you to excel in all areas of your life: academically, socially and athletically.
